The idea to form the Family Office Club (or FO Club) came about when a group of friends, who also happen to be long-standing members of the Family Business Network Asia (FBN Asia)1 and each with interest in family offices, gathered over lunch to discuss their families’ legacy.
As the conversation progressed, it dawned on them the significance of this peer-to-peer exchange they were engaged in: not just the sharing of investment strategies and philanthropic opportunities; but also the values aspects relating to successful passing of legacy wealth to future generations and good stewardship of assets.
The growth in the number of family offices here in Asia, from around 2015, has sprouted several family office associations. Many of which were established by investment banking experts, with all having common objectives of providing content, continuous education and advisory support.
Still, there was always a missing link.
While many of these family office associations focused heavily on the financial investment aspects, few leaned towards the family side of the family office.
Matters relating to succession planning, education of the next generation, family cohesion, entrepreneurial spirit, family compensation, philanthropy, dedicated concierge services and the like, were quite overlooked.
Established by families, for families and very much embodying the values and ethos of our sister network FBN Asia, the Family Office Club’s mission goes beyond being the authority on all matters relating to family wealth legacy. We aim to harness over and beyond our vantage position as multi-generational asset owners to establish an inclusive and vibrant peer-to-peer eco-system; to contemplate and share on sustaining the family enterprise, stewarding wealth responsibly & successfully to the generations ahead, while assuring the well-being of both our families and communities into the future.
The FO Club aims to provide a safe space where asset-owning principals converge, learn, share as well as socialise alongside like-minded family office principals, trusted professionals as well as business leaders contemplating the family office pathway.
